Halloween has some of the most exciting activities for kids. I am not talking about Halloween parties, rather the crafts ideas for creative kids like ours. And this time, the kids got to dabble on some Halloween baking ideas. This is organized by the Bacolod-Negros Occidental Bakers Association (BACNOBA) and sponsored by the Philippine Foremost Milling Corporation.
Halloween Baking Ideas from BACNOBA
Last year, the kids learned how to design Halloween doughnuts. This year, they made more designs, which make a complete snack for Halloween parties. BACNOBA holds these annual activities for kids in celebration of World Bread Day.
Shawna and Shane are so happy to be part of this activity for the last three years.
Fun Halloween Baking Ideas
You can easily make these Halloween baking ideas and serve them as snacks for your Halloween parties. So here are what the kids did in the activity that was held at The District North Point. They are all very easy for the kids to make.
Owl Bread
What You Need:
- Wheat bread, shaped like an owl
- 1 pc. Ham, sliced into a circle, 1.25 inches in diameter
- 2 pcs. cheddar cheese, sliced into a circle, 1 inch in diameter
- 1 pc. dark yellow cheese (like edam), sliced into a triangle
- 2 little marshmallows, white
- 2 little ham circles for the eyeballs
- Mayonnaise
What to do:
Using mayonnaise, secure the toppings on top of the bread. The cheese circles are for the eyes while the ham is for the tummy. The triangle is for the beak. Meanwhile, attach the little ham circles on the marshmallows and top them on the cheese slices.
Brownie Mummy
What you need:
- Regular sized brownies
- White frosting
- 2 Small marshmallows
- 2 Small pieces chocolate kisses
What to do:
Draw zigzag lines on the brownie using the white frosting. Attach the chocolate kisses on the marshmallows to make eyeballs and stick them on the frosting to make eyes. This is very easy to assemble.
Spider Cookie
What you need:
- Regular cookie, preferably oatmeal
- Melted chocolate in a piping bag
- Ricoa Flat Tops chocolate candy
- 2 Small marshmallows
- 2 Small chocolate kisses
What to do:
Draw 8 legs on the cookie using the melted chocolate. Put a big dot of chocolate in the middle and stick the Flat Tops. Put chocolate frosting on the little chocolate and attach them on the marshmallows.
Using chocolate frosting again, attach the marshmallows on the Flat Tops to make the eyes. You may omit the little chocolate eyeballs for this design. You can just make dots on the marshmallows using the chocolate frosting.
Doughnut Monsters
What you need:
- A doughnut with holes and a whole doughnut
- Melted chocolate in a container and a piping bag
- White frosting
- Pink frosting
- Marshmallows
- Little chocolates
What to do:
You can let your kids imagination run wild here. In our kids’ case, the doughnut with hole was coated on one side with chocolate by dunking the doughnut face in the melted chocolate. Then marshmallows with chocolate eyeballs were attached on top.
As for the whole doughnut, it was covered with pink or white frosting. A zombie face was drawn on it using the melted chocolate in the piping bag.
Creative Activities for Kids
We love these activities for kids as we are homeschooling our children. It can be tricky homeschooling in Bacolod because there are no providers here that can organize activities for us. We have to find ways. And if there are learning opportunities like these, we grab them.
About BACNOBA
The Bacolod-Negros Occidental Bakers’ Association (BACNOBA) is the umbrella organization of most bakers in Bacolod City and Negros Occidental.
They exist in order to protect member bakers from baking industry threats, to leverage for prices and ordinances, to keep their baking supplies steady, and of course, to foster camaraderie among its members.
Thank you, BACNOBA, Mrs. Chole Cuenca-Chua, and Mr. Arvin Chua for having us every year!
Oh I love all of these ideas! I wish I had seen them last week and could have done them with the children this week. That said, I could still do them even though halloween has passed!
That’s true, right? These are fun activities for kids. As long as they are creating something, that’s fun for them, Halloween or not 😀
Those are such fun baking ideas to do with kids. I think the owl bread would be the most fun though and health conscious as well. So many great things here.
