Storybook Ballet in a Bacolod Dance School
Starting little girls in dance early in their lives has some great benefits to their development. For very young girls, Garcia Sanchez School of Dance of Bacolod City offers storybook ballet.
New Developments in Dance
A lot of kids nowadays already start with preschool at age 1. Following in the need, so many dance schools in the Philippines and abroad have also opened their doors to kids as young as 2 years old.
These ballet classes and creative movement for young kids as young as 2 years old are for a purpose. Meaning, the early lessons in dance schools are not frivolous at all.
Benefits of Dance for Young Girls
The little girls taking up dance classes are encouraged to join in activities that involve their social development and gross motor skills. They also learn discipline and to follow instructions. Plus, they learn to persevere until they get the steps right.
In the city, the Bacolod dance school that offers dance lessons for early learners is the Garcia-Sanchez School of Dance.
At the Garcia-Sanchez School of Dance, they accept student as young as young as 2.5 years old.
Garcia-Sanchez School of Dance is not a stranger to early education. The principal of this Bacolod dance school, Gianne Sanchez-Sanson, also teaches the Kinder Step Class for 1-1.11 years old at the Kinder House Preschool.
The exciting thing about storybook ballet is incorporating the kids’ favorite stories into the dance exercises that they do in class.
Pretend Play in Dance School
According to Teacher Gianne, “If for the day, the theme is Moana, I let my daughter Drewy dress up in her Moana costume. Then we use the soundtrack of Moana while we introduce basic dance exercises and movements to the kids.”
This fun approach makes the kids more interested in learning dance. They learn how to do the simplest steps as well as the more exciting ones, like gallops and skips, while enjoying the different themes that are used in class each day.
“We also use props like crowns, lighted wands, boxes, and other things that can help them feel the story. At the end of the class, we have our tummy time, where all kids lie on their tummy to listen to the story of the day. Meanwhile, Drewy acts out the scenes from the story.”
Storybook Ballet Summer Recital
All levels of storybook ballet at Garcia-Sanchez School of Dance were able to successfully perform at their Summer Dance recital.
Teacher Gianne, along with her renowned sister Georgette Sanchez-Vargas, handled four storybook ballet classes during the summer workshop. Teacher Dia Matti (a long-time dance assistant before she left for college), teacher Blo, and the senior class scholars also helped in the summer workshop and production for the storybook ballet recital.
Our little Shane, age 4, has been with Garcia-Sanchez Dance School since January this year. She started about the same age as her older sister. Now, we have two girls studying ballet with them. We never regretted our decision sending our girls to them. 🙂
