I also appreciate the fact that they accept appointments. There are Bacolod dentists that only offer the first-come, first-serve system. It’s really a waste of time, having to wake up early and go to the clinic just to be the first one on the list.
However, I just want to mention that there is still some waiting to be made because the dentists also try to serve all their patients well. But it’s okay, it’s better than waiting for God knows how long just to get treated. And since we knew that there will be a waiting time, we brought our kids’ homeschooling lessons.
Detection of Dental Problems
Regular and consistent visits to our family dentist lead to the early detection of problems. For example, I didn’t know that Shane already had permanent molars. And since we don’t get to brush that part well because of her poor gag reflex, it now has a cavity.
So the dentist cleaned that tooth and filled it today to prevent further deterioration. Thankfully, it was discovered early. And we will have to keep brushing that area very well.
Prevention
A family dentist usually gives advice on how to avoid general problems like tooth decay. They also show our kids how to properly brush teeth. In order to avoid future problems, they apply sealant and fluoride protection on the teeth.

When our eldest Shawna’s permanent teeth were growing, they were big and misaligned. Our family dentist recommended pre-orthodontic trainer for kids or T4K.
Now, Shawna has a very nice smile, thanks to the early dental appliance that our dentist recommended. We did not regret following our dentist’s recommendation.

Having a family dentist means getting updates on oral health as well as new technologies and products that you can use.
One of the new dental products that the dentists at Comfydent Dental suggested to me is the Curaprox Ultra Soft toothbrush. It’s awesome especially for those with sensitive gums and from those who suffer from gingivitis.
The only downside is the cost — it’s way more expensive than regular toothbrushes. But honestly, the difference in brushing comfort is worlds apart. Now, my gums are spoiled rotten and it doesn’t want to be touched by other brands. Uggh. Time to re-align the family budget. haha

Truly, a family dentist can be a gem. Ours became a family friend becoz I gave her (and her assistants) such a hard time on my first visit ? A hard time is such an understatement, lol. After much kicking and screaming (about half a day and I’m not exaggerating), I had to admit she was a good one. She also saved my sister & I from expensive braces and offered us a cheaper alternative.
