The annual summer pictorial of our daughters has the theme flower child and we held it at the cool and austere Lantawan View Silay, up in the mountains of Silay City, Negros Occidental, Philippines.

Our annual summer pictorial has Flower Child theme

For this summer, Mama chose the flower child concept and the girls were thrilled because of the cute and colorful outfits and the flower crowns.

When Shane was one year old, we started this annual tradition in our family, where we hold a summer pictorial with different themes. It’s usually held in the month of April. But this year, we just did it a few days early because of our outing at Lantawan View Silay. The greens and the mountains was a perfect backdrop for our theme.

The Beginnings of the Annual Pictorial

It all started when we checked in at Metro Inn here in Bacolod City for a staycation in 2015. The kids had matching outfits and so we had a summer pictorial. Shane was only over a year old back then.

The following year, the kids got fairy wings, candy colored dresses, and flower headbands as gifts from different people. I once again had an idea, why not have another summer pictorial? So in 2016, we attended a birthday party at Sugarland Hotel and since they had nice plants there, the kids looked too cute as they blended in like garden fairies.

Here are sample photos from the first two years of our summer pictorials.

Since it had been two years already that we had been doing this, I thought it was time for a tradition. So for as long as the kids are willing to wear costumes, we will continue to do this. Of course, one big consideration is the budget for the costumes, so we just try to make do and also consider cheap alternatives, just like our Pocahontas themed summer pictorial last year.

The girls got those cute, girly Indian headpieces with feathers from a birthday party so I decided to have Pocahontas costumes made for them. I bought cheap fabric at P49 per yard so I think I spent around P250 for both their costumes. And we had a photo shoot at a nice outdoor restaurant, also in Silay City, called Punong Gary’s Place. It was beautiful.

So we definitely have a new family tradition — the girls’ summer pictorial.

Flower Child Theme

The girls got flower crowns again from a birthday party and so I thought of the flower child theme. I thought it would be perfect for this year, especially that Dindin has very long hair already.

When I went to Gaisano City, I found these really cute matching outfits with floral designs. The tops had turtle neck and had a halter necklines, which the girls looked good in because of their slender shoulders and long necks. The tops came with matching shorts, which looked really nice for summer. They were really cheap, for only P400 for both sets of outfits.

I figured I would spend on this because, after the pictorial, they can still use these clothes regularly, as these are not costumes.

Flower Child Photo Shoot

So without further ado, here’s the result of our flower child photo shoot in the cool surroundings at Lantawan View Silay in Silay City, Negros Occidental, Philippines. These are natural kiddie models! This is how cheap clothes and some creativity turned out.

Dindin

Our eldest Dindin, at 9 years old, is already prim and proper.

Playtime

After the flower child summer pictorial, which took pretty much 15 minutes, the kids played hard around Lantawan View Silay. After all, they are kids and they need the physical activity. What fun they had! It was a great time because they had playmates Issa and Ethan playing with them. We had a wonderful Sunday with good friends!

We are homeschooling in Bacolod, but we are not all lessons. We are pro fun!
