Our little girls had been taking voice lessons from Voice Chords Music Studio over the summer. And last June 23, 2019, they joined the summer voice recital held at the Ayala Malls Capitol Central.
Voice Chords Music Studio is one of the more well-known Bacolod music studio. It is owned and managed by Coach John Raymond Castiller, a professional singer who was once a member of Kulay Pikata. It was a Bacolod-based, all-male singing group who shot up to national fame.
At Voice Chords Music Studio, they offer voice lessons as well as tutorials in playing instruments like guitars and keyboards. The school is open all year-round.
Summer Voice Recitals
While the music school is open all year, they do hold two recitals within the year. One is held at the end of the year during Christmas. And one is during the middle of the year–after the summer workshops.
Many kids join the summer workshops for want of something to do during the break. It’s good to be able to hone their musical talents and prepare them for future school activities. Parents like it, too, because it’s one reason for the kids to get out of the house.
Participants
There were more than 40 musical numbers during the summer voice recital. A total of 40 solo acts from kids were presented. Plus, there were several group numbers from other students. It was a jam-packed three-hour show. And we had a couple of participants–our daughters Shawna and Shane.
WCOPA 2019
It’s no secret that Voice Chords Music Studio has produced more than its fair share of singing champions. They even have an international champion in the person of Joshua Pineda. He joined the World Championships of Performing Arts several years back and brought home the bacon.
This year, 6 out of the 8 WCOPA contestants from Negros Occidental are from Voice Chords Music Studio. These are Cassie Cusimano, Ella Manaloto, Nino Niño, Fritz Sianson, Kerwin Uy, Mahan Tubal, and Garrick Dizon
Shawna’s Singing
Our eldest daughter Shawna. had been a student under Coach Raymond ever since she was four years old. The coach also trained her when she joined SM Little Stars till she reached regional finals.
She is quite serious with her singing and she had been studying in the direction of musical theater.

Shane’s Lessons
Meanwhile, Shane has also been studying at Voice Chords Music Studio. She started a few months before the summer voice recital.
Truth be told, Shane has quite a good singing voice. But she is not very diligent with her studies and would rather have fun. Well, she is getting away with it for now because she really asked to have voice lessons.

However, after this, we will have to consider if she is serious or just wants to follow her older sister. She’s still five years old and can still change her mind. But she said she will continue her storybook ballet, so she will be.
