NEGROS Power: Why a Mobile Substation is Very Important

0Shares

When there is a technical problem with our electricity that needs major repairs, power needs to be turned off so that the linemen can work safely. Depending on the degree of damage, it can take several hours to days. When there is a strong typhoon, repairs can even reach weeks to finish. But if it is system rehabilitation we are talking about, that could last for months! The solution to these situations is a mobile substation and MORE Power has purchased these for Iloilo City. Their sister company, Primelectric, is gearing up to do the same in the City of Smiles. Looking forward to more a proactive rehabilitation of Bacolod City’s power distribution system under NEGROS Power.

Featured: Mobile Substations in Iloilo City by MORE Power

We have been talking about how bad and unreliable CENECO’s service in Bacolod City has become. Very frequent power interruptions, very poor customer service, not enough power supply, and very high system losses are among the main complaints. That is because many of CENECO’s equipment are already very old. They need to be upgraded and rehabililated but CENECO cannot afford that, much less purchasing a mobile substation.

Meanwhile, Iloilo City has been enjoying not just good service and ample power supply, but also lower monthly electric bills.

MORE Power has really done a lot of good in Iloilo in just three years. No wonder the city keeps on progressing because more investors are opening shops there. There is an ample supply of electricity to power new developments. Bacolodnons have been clamoring for different international brands and offices to open here. But how can they if power is not enough or system rehabilitations are not being done?

Mobile Substations in Iloilo

MORE Power has purchased a modern mobile substation with 30/36 Mega Volt Amp (MVA) as power transformer. This mobile substation is customized and state-of-the-art, which is may be considered as the first in the country. It is supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA)-ready to allow for efficient operation and monitoring.

Note: SCADA is a system of software and hardware elements that allows industrial organizations to control industrial processes locally or at remote locations. It can also monitor, gather, and process real-time data.

This mobile substation is working to provide a temporary supply of electricity in the Molo District. The old substation is undergoing rehabilitation and it is estimated to be completed and fully functional after 8 months. When the permanent substation is done, the mobile substation will be moved to another location.

Augment Power

In 2020, MORE Power also purchased a 10/12 MVA mobile substation, which was stationed at the Megaworld township in Manduarriao to cater to the high load demand of the Iloilo Business District. This ensures ample supply of electricity in high-traffic commercial areas to encourage more investors to the city. More investors means more business, more jobs, and more taxes.

Give NEGROS Power a Chance

NEGROS Power wants to bring the same kind of service to Bacolod City and Central Negros–the areas being serviced by CENECO. Let’s face it, CENECO badly needs help and when its franchise ends in 2030, Bacolod City will be in big trouble. It is going to be open season for bidders who want to take over the distribution utility (DU).

Let’s make sure that the Primelectric and CENECO JVA happens. Please vote YES to JVA because we want electricity distribution in Bacolod City to improve.
